ABOUT ABOUT

Palmetto Center for the Arts to present FAME THE MUSICAL

The Palmetto Center for the Arts Theatre Company at Richland Northeast High School will present Fame the Musical Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, October 11th, 12th, and 14th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, October 15th at 3:00 pm in the Richland District Two Auditorium on the Richland Northeast campus. Tickets are $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults and may be purchased at the door.

Conceived and developed by David DeSilva with book, lyrics and music by Jose Fernandez, Jacques Levy and Steve Margoshes, Fame The Musical is a riveting stage version of the award-winning film and television series with a high-octane musical score. The story follows students in a performing arts high school as they confront the challenges that face all students today: the need for literacy, the search for meaning in an increasingly chaotic social world, the dangers of drugs and growing up too fast, and above all, the need to strive for excellence through hard work.

This performance will showcase the combined talents of the Palmetto Center for the Arts and Richland Northeast theatre, dance and music students. Featured performers include Jazmine Rivera as the fame-seeker, Carmen Diaz, with Darius Adamson, Ajai Cave and Darius Darby as acting students, Nick Piazza, Serena Katz and Joe Vegas. Kayleigh Smith and John Fortune bring to life the romantic duo of dancers, Iris and Tyrone, while Jacob Wilkinson and Scott Moore portray music students Schlomo and Goody with Marley Suber and Catherine Kelley double cast as Lambchops. Tyra Brown-Wallace is cast as Mabel, and Jessica Geiger and Trenity Reese take on the roles of the English teacher, Miss Sherman and dance teacher, Miss Bell, respectively.

Fame the Musical is under the direction of Donna Wilson, with musical direction by Dr. Greg Boatwright and choreography by Nicole Czekalski. David Mitchell and Tony Fling are scene and lighting designers for the show.
