The Palmetto Center for the Arts Theatre Company will present the award-winning musical, INTO THE WOODS by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 22-24 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, March 25, at 3:00 PM in the Richland District Two Auditorium on the Richland Northeast campus. Tickets are $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults and may be purchased at the door and online at www.districtauditorium.org.
Winner of the Tony award for Best Musical, INTO THE WOODS is a musical delight interweaving the characters and plots from well-loved fairytales in a sophisticated style that will speak to adults as well as children. Characters go into the woods to fulfill their wishes, hopes and dreams, only to be confronted by the difficulties that arise when they do or don’t come true, providing a truly spellbinding evening in the theatre.
The talented cast features Margaret Greene as the Narrator, Darius Adamson and Ajai Cave as the Baker and his Wife, Jazmine Rivera as the cunning Witch and Mary Grace (Gracie) Boyce as Cinderella. Also featured are Catherine Kelley as the feisty Red Riding Hood, along with Darius Darby as the willful Jack, and Jessica Geiger as Jack’s Mother.
Kaleah Capers portrays Cinderella’s Stepmother, flanked by stepsisters, Florinda and Lucinda, played by Trenity Reese and Kirslyn Gunter. Jacob Wilkinson and Justin Castro, portray Cinderella’s Prince and Rapunzel’s Prince respectively. Also included are Hannah Palmer as the beautiful Rapunzel, Trey Weaver as the Mysterious Man, Darius Lee as the Prince’s Steward, Elijah Slater as Cinderella’s father, Gloria Smith as Cinderella’s real mother and Isabella Dovalina as Red Riding Hood’s Granny. Gloria Smith and Morgan Weaver portray Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.
The musical is being presented in collaboration with the Richland Northeast Foundation, which will feature a “Dinner and the Show” event, Saturday, March 24th with appetizers at 5:30 pm, dinner and an art auction at 6:00, followed by the performance of INTO THE WOODS at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the Foundation’s Dinner and Show may be purchased in the Main Office at Richland Northeast. Proceeds from the event will be used to provide grants for teachers and students at Richland Northeast High School.
The play is being directed by Donna Wilson, with musical direction by Greg Boatwright.
